It is important to find a Breathworker who you feel comfortable with and has adequate training. Good Breathworkers truly provide a space filled with warm, loving energy where you can unwind and reconnect with your own Divine Life Essence, in a safe, peaceful atmosphere. Choosing-a-Breathworker Group Sessions or Individual Sessions?
Some Breathworkers offer group breathing sessions as well as individual sessions. We recommend receiving only individual breathing sessions (one-on-one sessions) with well trained Breathworkers. Read this article to find out why.
Choosing-a-Breathworker Various Names for Breathworkers
Breathworkers may also call themselves Rebirthers, Breathing Guides, Breathwork Counselors, Breath Therapists, and so on. What title they choose to represent their practice is a personal choice.
Choosing-a-Breathworker Who Fits Your Needs
Rebirthers can specialize in different areas, some working only with women, or only with men. Some Rebirthers focus on pregnancy, or child Rebirthing. You can find a Rebirther to meet your specific needs by reading through our Directory Listings. Rebirthers, like any other type of Practitioner, all have their own individual, unique personality and style. Due to the depth of experience Conscious Breathing can offer, It is important to start out with a Practitioner that you feel compatible with. It has also been found beneficial to do Rebirthing with two Rebirthers working together, one male and one female. Having both present in the session can act as a catalyst to your subconscious and help release many core issues around parents, siblings, or gender related issues.
Choosing-a-Breathworker How Many Sessions Should I Take?
It is recommended that you complete at least ten sessions with the same Rebirther. This builds a stronger connection of trust in the client - practitioner relationship, which can enable you to go deeper into your experiences. Also, it may take several sessions before you really start to feel the energy moving in your body and experience. How you respond to the breathing sessions will be unique and individual to you and your specific life experience. You do not have to stop receiving sessions after the first ten. These are only recommended as a good starting goal. I like to think of completing the first ten sessions as graduating from kindergarten! Most professional Breathworkers continue to receive sessions from other professional Breathworkers. Breathing energy is a life-long process, and it is good to receive as much support and assistance as you need.
Choosing-a-Breathworker How to Interview Your Prospective Breathworker
Since Breathwork as a Profession is not regulated by state or national licensing boards, we feel it is especially important to interview Breathworkers before entering into a client - practitioner relationship. Most Breathworkers will be happy to talk with you about their practice and answer any of your questions or concerns. Here are some Questions you may want to ask your Breathwork Practitioner before becoming their client: - Where did you receive your Breathwork training?
- How long have you been practicing?
- How many sessions have you given?
- What is your code of ethics for working with clients?
- What are your standards for the Professional - Client relationship?
- Do you offer support groups or workshops for your clients?
- Do you offer discount packages or work on a sliding scale?
Choosing-a-Breathworker Professionalism and a Safe Space
Good Breathworkers follow professional standards and respect their client's confidentiality and personal boundaries. Be sure to ask a potential Breathworker what their code of ethics and professional conduct is before you 'hire' them. Some Breathworkers include other healing modalities in their sessions, such as Reiki, massage, hypnotherapy, etc. You have the right to know ahead of time what therapies they use in their practice, and to set boundaries and agreements as far as what you are comfortable with. Everyone receiving Rebirthing Breathwork sessions has the right to a safe, clean, protected space during their session, just as with any other healing modality. It is not uncommon for Breathwork sessions to be given outdoors, when weather permits! Sessions can also be given in the water, with or without a snorkel. (This can be done in warm or cold water, in a bath tub, hot tub, lake, river, or ocean etc.) This should only be done after you have completed a minimum of 10 'dry' sessions, as it can often trigger more intense symptoms for people who have never healed their breathing mechanism.
Choosing-a-Breathworker Breathwork Foundations and Organizations
We recommend that you interview several Breathwork Practitioners to find the right one for you. Many Breathworkers are members and graduates of various Breathwork organizations and foundations. You can also contact these schools and resources to find out what their standards, regulations, and code of ethics are. We offer a list of Breathwork Organizations and Foundations here.
