~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Can you Breathe through Your Nose? This is no joke! Many people who have come to me for Conscious Breathing - Rebirthing never realized that they always breathed through their mouth. -Until suddenly, in a Rebirthing session, they are asked to breathe connectedly in and out through their nose, almost entirely, for one hour or more. To this date, every asthmatic that I have taken through a session has had some level of resistance, fear, or inability to breathe in and out comfortably through their nose. Overcoming this fear of breathing, fear of life, or fear of letting go, by completing 10 Rebirthing sessions, almost always results in fewer or no asthma attacks at all. So what is going on? Let's take a closer look at Nose breathing vs. Mouth breathing. Nose breathing is important, because it cleanses and energizes the nadis at a much faster rate than mouth breathing. Nadis are the energy centers located in the nasal cavity, where all of the energy pathways in the body come to a meeting place. By practicing connected breathing through the nose, you are oxygenating and saturating the entire body with Lifeforce Energy. Nose breathing will enduce deeper states of calmness and relaxation. Mouth breathing completley by-passes the nadis, but will still circulate Lifeforce Energy throughout the body. It can also stir up and release stronger, more primal emotions during the Conscious Breathing experience. When we are very excited, our breath often will naturally switch over to mouth breathing, (...which leads us into the subject of Breathing and Emotions, next month's Better Breathing Tip!!!) Learning to master both nose breathing and mouth breathing is ideal. They both have benefits. However, when we are stuck in only breathing one way, we are limited, and the full potential of the healing power of our Breath may not be realized.

1. Set aside all distractions. Stop whatever else you are doing, for just a few moments. 2. Sit, or lie down comfortably. 3. Breathing through your nose with your mouth closed; Inhale deeply and exhale when it feels natural, several times in a row. ---- breathe --- 4. Breathing entirely through your mouth; Inhale deeply and exhale when it feels natural, several times in a row. ---- breathe ---
5. Observe your experience. Was it easier to take in a deep breath through your nose, or your mouth? Which did you feel most comfortable with? Did you dislike one over the other? Which do you do throughout your day; nose breathing or mouth breathing?
Breathing is elemental to having a healthy, happy, living body. By identifying your own inhibited breathing habits you can begin a healing process that will benefit you for the rest of your life!
